I have updated my popcorn in the microwave for years. I love popcorn in some form, but I particularly enjoy giving a simple bag with one or two simple add-ins such as ranch-spelled, smoked peppers, lime peel or eating yeast. A splash of hot sauce or a few light splash vinegar is also delicious.
One of my brands is to enlarge fresh Parmigiano Reggiano over the hot seeds because the heat melts the cheese just enough to coat everything with its salty, nutty Umami aromas. Then because I am obsessed, I add freshly cracked black pepper for this Cacio e Pepe atmosphere.

It is like reading my thoughts and decided to simplify my life. The combination of butter -like, crispy popcorn with the familiar, reliable reliable taste of Parmesan creates a nostalgic snack that meets all the salty, hearty notes that I long for.

My honest evaluation
As someone who has been producing popcorn for decades, be it with an air cushion on the stove or in the microwave, I can confidently say that this combination is a winner. And it couldn’t be easier. I just pack the bag as usual, transfer the hot seeds into a bowl and then sprinkle the Parm.
Of course, it does not have the same sharpness and complexity as Parmigiano Reggiano. But it brings its own nostalgic charm, with the cheese holding on every warm kernel in a goldilock movement. Since Cacio e Pepe has me under control, I still end with freshly cracked pepper. My only advice is to work quickly while the popcorn is still hot, so that everything is together.
