My 1-Ingredient Upgrade for the Best Tomato Sandwich

I’m looking forward to the tomato season all year round – and it’s finally here!

Regardless of whether I grab it at home or grab some beautiful types of heirs on the farmers’ market, there is really nothing better than a fresh summer tomato. While I have creative opportunities to use these freshly grown gemstones in the kitchen, one of my favorites is a simple tomato sandwich.

The classic version of this court (bread, mayo, tomato and salt) in my book is nothing less than perfection. Over the years, however, I have discovered some fun upgrades to make the tomato sandwich a little more fascinating.

My 1-content upgrade for tomato sandwiches

When it comes to tomato sandwiches, I spread a healthy portion of Mayo on soft bread with whole grain bread, added cut tomatoes, sprinkle with salt and call it a day. Now I upgrade this simple recipe by using everything Bagel spice instead of salt!

As a trendy and available ingredient nowadays, everything Bagel spice is already in many American storage chambers – including mine – and I can’t get enough.

All the Bagel spice gives a salty, Garlicky taste together with poppy seeds, sesame seeds and onions. The spice gives this simple sandwich a lot of taste and gives an otherwise evenly soft dish a crispy texture such as sprinkles on a cupcake.

The best way to give your tomato -sandwich everything that Bagel spices have seasoned

To try this trick at home, I have a few tips to make sure that your first go is nothing less than a Homerun.

  • Start slowly: If you are new in everything that Bagel has seasoned – or not yet tried it on a sandwich – start only a few strokes above the tomatoes to avoid the dish. From there you can add as much as you want – I add about half a teaspoon to me.
  • Eat right away: In order to achieve the full structural effect of the Everything Bagel spice, you should eat the sandwich immediately – otherwise you will lose this crunch. In addition, the salt in the spice is swapped out of water in the spice, which leads to an aqueous chaos.
  • Sprinkle on the Mayo: To reduce the mess, add your spices directly to the Mayo. This helps to stick to your sandwich.
  • Add a few herbs or other vegetables: I love to increase my tomatoes with herbs or vegetables that I have at hand. Fresh basil, parsley, sprouts or spinach work well.
  • Exchange your spread: While I am through and through a Mayo lover, I switch off the spread for my tomato sandwich from time to time. Corny cheese, cottage cheese, farmer’s cheese or even Burrata all go into account.
