Why do that?
- Johnny Mac has been loved for decades because there are only four ingredients and feed a lot.
- The casserole also provides calming, kitschy, meaty quality.
Let us be clear about one thing: my grandma is not a cook. Don’t take my word for it – she announces it. It did not prevent it from feeding our whole family longer every Sunday than I can remember.
While she occasionally orders delivery of pizza and calls it a day, it draws most of the time from a small collection of faster and dirty recipes that can feed a lot. As a child, the outstanding one was the most enthusiastic me, her characteristic pasta casserole: Johnny Mac.

Johnny Mac is the simplified version of my grandma of classic cheesy tomatoes and meat shop Johnny Marzetti Casserole. Your version is based on beef meat or turkey instead of sausage, only parmesan cheese and a strong amount of tomato sauce to avoid fiddling with additional vegetables. The macaroni is the main constant between these two dishes, as my grandma called her.
When I left the nest for the first time and had to lower myself for myself, I always turned to Johnny Mac. It checked all the boxes: delicious, simple, filled, and I never had to write down the recipe – it was too easy to forget it. The other big plus? That makes a lot of food, so I had remains for days.
If you have a small army to feed, my grandma has her back with her Johnny Mac.

-
Salt and freshly ground black peppertaste
-
1 pound Ellbogen macaroni
-
1 pound 90% lean cattle meat or ground turkey
-
1 (32 ounces) jar Marinara sauce (I use rao)
-
1 1/2 Cup (to 6 Ounce))) grated parmesan cheesedivided
-
Preheat the oven to 400 ° F.
-
Cook macaroni and beef wood meat:
Bring a large saucepan with heavily salted water to boil over strong heat. Cook the macaroni up to very dent in accordance with the instructions for the package and drain.
In a large pan, cook the beef minced meat over medium heat until they are cooked through, and no longer pink, 8 to 10 minutes. Taste with salt and pepper.
-
Combine ingredients:
Combine the drained macaroni, the boiled meat, the Marinara sauce and 1 cup of grated parmesan in the now empty large pot. Stir until the ingredients are installed and the mixture with melted cheese is slightly thread -shaped.
Now it is time to transfer this pasta mountain to a 9×13-inch casserole. Smooth the noodles into an even layer and make sure that it spreads into the corners. Top the pasta evenly with the remaining 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan.
-
Bake:
Bake until the cheese becomes golden brown on the top, about 20 minutes. You can serve immediately, but you are well advised to be patient for at least 15 minutes to avoid you have built your tongue.
Remains? Yes, I thought. Let the noodles cool down for at least 1 hour and cover the dish or transfer the portions to a few airtight containers. Refrocation for up to 4 days. To warm up, transfer your desired services into a bowl and a microwave until you warm up.
