I Tested Tupperware’s New Voila Glass Bakeware Containers

I Tested Tupperware’s New Voila Glass Bakeware Containers

I inherited most of my Tupperware containers from my mother. She gave me a full set when I moved into my first apartment, and she’s probably given me a second full set by now, since she often brings baked goods with her each time she visits, leaving me with the container. She attended a lot of Tupperware parties in the ’90s, so she still has plenty of containers for her own kitchen.

All of these Tupperware containers are plastic, which means I can’t heat leftover food in them. So imagine my surprise when Tupperware announced that it would be releasing the first-ever collection of glass food containers. This surprise intensified when I found out that these glass containers also doubled as baking pans, and when Tupperware contacted me and asked if I would like to test the complete Voila Glass Bakeware Set? Color me shocked but excited.

Tupperware Voila Square Glass Food Storage and Baking Dish

The Voila Glass Tupperware collection consists of three parts, and I tested the square bowl first. After all, fall was finally here and I was craving apple chips. Every time I’ve made this delicious dessert I’ve used a square metal pan, but now that I’ve used the Voila glass dish, I’m never going back.

The Voila casserole dish had a few more advantages than my metal pan. First and foremost, I love the timeless look of glass. I could also see into the pan while it was baking. Unlike my metal pan, the Voila pan has a slight lip around the edges, making it much easier to lift in and out of the oven.

Once the chips were perfectly cooked (and I was serving myself a heaping piece), I put the sturdy lid on and put the whole dish in the fridge. Since my kitchen is quite small, I’m a big fan of multi-purpose kitchen appliances. The Voila Tupperware does triple duty as a casserole dish, serving dish, and food storage container.

The next day, I took the dish out of the fridge, put it in the microwave, and opened the steam vent on the lid before reheating the dessert. It heated the chips quickly and evenly without leaving a big, splattery mess in my microwave. Although Tupperware markets the lid as microwave safe, it is made of plastic, so Allrecipes cannot recommend placing it in the appliance.

Tupperware Voila XL rectangular glass food storage and baking dish

Next, I tested the Voila Glass XL Rectangular Baking Dish by making a comforting tater tot casserole. Since it was my first time making this particular recipe, I kept a close eye on it. The crystal clear glass came in handy as I could watch the little ones bake. When my timer went off, I knew the casserole wasn’t quite ready, thanks to the transparent shape. After another five minutes in the oven, dinner was ready.

I appreciate that the airtight lid has an extended tab on one corner that makes opening the bowl easier. Like the smaller square casserole dish, this wide rectangular version also features a convenient rim and is safe to use in the microwave, freezer and dishwasher. It has a spacious 3 liter capacity and a handy fill line on the side so you don’t accidentally overfill.

Tupperware Voila Round Glass Food Storage and Baking Pan

Although I haven’t used the Voila Tupperware round pan yet, I know I’ll love it. I can already see myself using it to store large portions of turkey chili or slow cooker chicken stew. When it comes to cooking, the 1.8 liter bowl is a great size for roasting a batch of vegetables or a shepherd’s pie.

Both the round and square baking dishes cost $24, while the XL rectangular dish is just $10 more at $34. You can buy them individually, but if you want all three, Tupperware sells them at a slight discount – $74 for the whole bundle as opposed to $82 individually.

I’m really excited to introduce this new glassware set. It is practical, versatile and beautiful to look at. My mom is jealous of my modern Tupperware collection – no parties necessary.
