Fruit desserts like this are my favorite species! This recipe for strawberry etone fair uses fresh strawberries, homemade whipped cream and crispy meringue for a delicious pleasure for which no baking is required. It is believed that Eton Mess comes in the late 19th century at the Eton College in England. This simple fruit dessert resembles my strawberry or strawberries and yoghurt and is perfect for grilling, picnic or at any time if you need a short summer enjoyment.

Why I love this recipe

Gina Homolka Headshot in kitchenI am not a big dessert person, but I love fruit dessert. When I tested this recipe, I swank !! I also love how simple it is, no baking. My husband Tommy came back for seconds, it’s so good !! The next time I do it (think of Memorial Day Weekend), I will triple the recipe and serve it in a little bit!

There is only very little sugar because the meringue are sweet enough. And I find fat -free Greek yogurt in my whipped cream to make it easier and it always works like a magic!

  • Fast and easy: It is finished in less than 20 minutes.
  • No baking: Since it uses prefabricated bait groves, the oven does not have to be heated.
  • Seasonal: Use your favorite berries during spring or summer or thawed frozen berries to create all year round.
  • Ideal for many nutritional restrictions: Eton Mess is gluten-free, Weight Watcher-friendly and can be made slightly milk-free.

What is the difference between Pavlova and British eton chaos?

Pavlova and Eton Mess are meringue desserts with similar ingredients, but different presentations. Eton Mess is more deconstructed with layers of fruit, meringue biscuits and whipped cream. A Pavlova, which is popular in New Zealand and Australia, consists of a larger, round meringue that is crispy and soft on the outside. It is traditionally occupied by whipped cream and fresh fruit.

Ingredients and substitutions

You need the following to make this simple dessert. Find the full recipe with the following measurements.

Strawberries, meringue and other eton measuring ingredients

  • Strawberries: Look for plump, sweet red strawberries. Other summer berries (or a mixture of them), such as raspberries, blueberries or blackberries, can be used instead.
  • Cream: In this healthy eton fair, I used my proven recipe that combined heavy whipped cream with fat-free Greek yogurt. Relax the cream, the bowl and whisk before publishing the best results. Coconut stroke cream like Coco Whip is a great milk-free alternative.
  • Sweetener: This recipe uses very little sugar for the strawberries and none for the whipped cream, since the meringue groves give it a lot of sweetness.
  • Bait groves: With meringue bought in the shop, it works perfectly here. Break them into smaller pieces.

  • Sweetener: Feel free to exchange the sugar for your sweetener of your choice, such as Mönchfrucht.
  • Simple eton chaos: If you want to do it faster, use frozen whipped cream for more 3-ingredients and measurement measurement.

Serving size: 1 /2 cup

  • Suck 4 ounces of the strawberries and put them aside for the end.

  • Quarter the remaining strawberries and put half of them in a medium -sized bowl. Use a fork or potato stemper to roughly smash it until you have a chunky puree. Set aside.

  • Add the remaining quartered strawberries to a small saucepan, combine with sugar and water. Bring to a boil and then let the heat on medium low and simmer and simmer with occasional stirring until they are reduced and thickened and the fruits are softer for 7 to 9 minutes.

  • Put in a bowl to cool completely. When you cool down, mix the reserved chunky puree together.

  • Shortly before serving, make the whipped cream: Combine the chilled whipped cream and vanilla in a medium -sized bowl. Whisk with a hand mixer at medium speed until the cream reaches stiff tips for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the yogurt and whisk it again at medium speed until the mixture returns to stiff tips for about 30 seconds.

  • Crush the cookies so that there are a variety of sizes, but most parts are small. Carefully fold most of the shredded cookies and reserve a few tablespoons of garnish.

  • Layer the strawberry puree and the cream mixture in 8 small glass bowls or cups, followed by more strawberries.

  • Topping: Covered the mixture with the cut strawberries and sprinkle the reserved orphans over it.

  • *I used Cookies from Trader Joe, and this was 14 cookies. 3 ounces are good for the cream mixture, and a couple to garnish was a nice gesture.
  • You can also do this in a large bowl Or little things that layer the strawberries and cream. Then use a large spoon or a large spatula to make just one or two folds through the mixture so that the fruits and the cream are swiveled, but only (they will continue to mix together).
  • If you do in a large bowl: There are about 2 generous cups of the cream/meringue mix and 2 1/2 cups of fruit for a total of about 4 1/2 cups as well as a spacious side dish made of cut strawberries and some crumpled cookies. If you have a little something, I recommend double the recipe for 12-16. Serve by spoons in individual glasses or small shells.
