Cinnamon Tea – Cookie and Kate

Cinnamon tea recipe

Let us warm up with a cup of cinnamon tea! Cinnamon tea (Té de Canela in Spanish) has become my drink of choice in cold weather. It is hot and nice and sharp, but not overwhelming. The inherent sweetness of Cinnamon makes it a balanced drink. It also makes the house smell surprisingly.

If you enjoy the spice factor in the Masala Chai tea, you will love cinnamon tea and it is so easy to prepare. Make your drink with a dash of milk creamy or sweeten it with honey if you want. I like my simple or with a splash of heavy cream, depending on the mood.

This cinnamon tea is caffeine -free and is therefore perfect to drink at noon. My husband and I made the habit of drinking cinnamon tea after our daughter went to bed, which is a nice way to relax.

Cinnamon

Apart from the fact that it tastes great, Cinnamon tea attracted my attention as a way possibly improve blood sugar levels and lower insulin resistance. In view of the possibility, cinnamon tea can offer advantages with PCOS. If the lowering of the blood sugar is your goal, it is best to add sweeteners like sugar or honey to your drink, which has the opposite effect.

Cinnamon is also very high in polyphenol -antiooxidants, which can help your body ward off free radicals. The anti -inflammatory properties can help improve cholesterol levels. It is also antibacterial and antifungal. I’m not a nutritionist, but Cinnamon certainly sounds like a winner!

Types of cinnamon

If you read about the Potential health benefits of cinnamon consumptionThink about the type to be referred to. Make your cinnamon tea with Ceylon cinnamonalso known as the “true cinnamon” or Cinnamomum Verum. Consume large quantities of other cinnamon types, Especially Cassia CinnamonCan damage the liver and increase the risk of bleeding.

You can try to prepare cinnamon tea with cinnamon sticks that you have at home. However, if you start drinking it regularly, please switch to Ceylon clamped sticks. I Buy Bio cecylon cinnamon sticks By Frontier co-op at Amazon.

While this recipe is simple, the tea is surprisingly important how long you simmer the tea (and steep). I have always made cinnamon tea to find the method that achieves the best results with the purest cinnamon taste.

Multiply the recipe as required –Insert a cinnamon tab for each cup of water.

  1. Combine the water and cinnamon sticks in a saucepan. Cover the Pan So The Water Doesn’t Evaporate. Bring the mixture to a hearty simmer over medium heat.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and simmer carefully, covered for 10 minutes. If you simmer longer, the tea tastes flat and makes a matt brown color.
  3. Remove the pot from the stove and let it steep for 10 minutes. Cinnamon releases a considerable amount of taste while cooling down.
  4. Pour the mixture into your cup through a mesh sieve. Enjoy it warm, or cool it up to four days (warm it up or enjoy it cold).

Link option

This link method is super simply. The disadvantage is that it uses twice as much cinnamon.

  1. Bring a cup of water to the boil and then pour it into a cup via two cinnamon sticks.
  2. Leave the cinnamon steep for 10 minutes before adding sip or cream (it becomes stricter when it cools down and takes time to cool a safe temperature). You could carefully remove the cinnamon sticks at this time when you disturb them, but I usually leave them there.

That’s it!

Zimttea variations

Here are a few delicious turns to the cinnamon tea.

  • Make it cute: Stir in honey, maple syrup or sugar to taste. As I enjoy my tea unsweetened, cinnamon and honey is a match in heaven.
  • Make it creamy: Add a splash of half and half, cream, whole milk or another simple Secer you enjoy.
  • Make it particularly sharp: Add a few entire cloves or a cardamom pod. You can also try thinly cut fresh ginger or turmeric.
  • Do it citrically: Increase your tea with a few thin slices of orange or lemon.
  • As soon as you have removed the pot from the heat, steep black or green tea for the time offered for the package. Or go with the concept and try to add a cinnamon stick to your cup of hot coffee (I love it).
  • Enjoy it cold: This tea is also nice over ice. Let it cool down at room temperature and cool it for later.

Cinnamon tea

  • Expect that the intensity of your tea varies a little from batch to batch. Some cinnamon sticks weigh more than others (mines of 4 to 7 grams) and some seem to have a stronger taste of nature than others.
  • Some recipes propose to reuse their cinnamon sticks, but I do not recommend it. They lose a lot of taste every time they are used. It takes a long time for the air to dry and I was worried that mold or bacteria grow in wet growth.

Notes

Link option: This method uses 2 cinnamon sticks per cup of water, but is faster and easier. Place 2 cinnamon sticks in a cup. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and then pour over the cinnamon sticks into the cup. Leave it steep for 10 minutes before adding sip or cream. At this point they were able to carefully remove the cinnamon sticks, but I don’t bother.
