Can Apple-Cider Vinegar Help with Weight Loss?

Apple-Cider vinegar (ACV) may be the last cry, but there have been thousands of years. This natural means is easily created by fermenting apples. While it is a contact point in many kitchens, it has gained a reputation as a magical elixir in health circles. In fact, ACV was advertised for everything, from the cancellation of acne and reversing diabetes to melting fat and promoting a faster weight loss.

But is there actually science to secure these brave demands? To find out, we asked dieticians what they really think about apple cider vinegar, especially because of weight loss. Here is what you told us.

Does Apple-cider vinegar have advantages?

If you wonder what ACV can do for you – and not – for you, you need to know the following.

It can help some people handle blood sugar

While apple cider vinegar is not a remedy, some indications indicate that this could help to manage the blood sugar. But only for some people.

It could help to lower cholesterol levels

It will not heal your digestive problems

You may have heard that ACV can make digestible problems such as constipation or flatulence easier, but there is also no strong evidence that this is the support. “There is a joint claim that Apple-Cider vinegar can heal digestive problems and reset the intestinal microbioma,” says Lepore. “In reality, the intestine is very complex and often requires more extensive interventions. And there is hardly any evidence that prove that ACV can solve chronic digestive problems.”

But what about its supposed probiotic properties? While apple cider vinegar is a fermented food, most of the ACV sold in the branches are actually pasteurized. This process kills all advantageous bacteria that could support digestive health. And even raw, unfiltered ACV does not have enough living bacteria to qualify as a probiotic food, according to the National Institutes of Health.

Should you try Apple-Cider vinegar for weight loss?

On the other hand, ACV could help reduce cholesterol, but more research is required. And if you take it to reduce flatulence or to help you poop it, it is also unlikely that it will help there.

If you love ACVS taste, of course give it to your favorite salad dressing, sauce or mocktail. Just don’t drink it because research has shown that your acid can undermine your tooth enamel. As in most cases, a food first approach is the right way!
