Apple Flautas

Apple Flautas

Apple Flautas will always remind me of my childhood. If you grew up in the 90s like me, you will probably remember the man of the Schwann’s man who made his rounds. I can still imagine that my mother pulls a box of frozen apple fleece from his freezing car full of frozen treats, and I knew seriously improved. Warm, crispy and covered with cinnamon sugar, it really didn’t get much better. Nowadays I do my own version with the Air Fry, which is a little easier compared to frying, but I promise that they are as tasty as they remember!

Homemade air roast -apfel -Flautas

While I tested this recipe for Apple Flautas, I was honestly surprised how easy and quick to make it. And they are not just like that So Well, they are incredibly cheap too. All you need are a few apples and a few pantry basic food!

As a rule, Lullas are a hearty Mexican dish filled with meat, cheese or beans and then fried to crispy. This recipe takes up the same idea, but fills the tortillas with warm Fried cinnamon seeds instead. I also heard that people call Apple Flautas Apple Pie Taquitos, and frankly this is the perfect description. They are like a rolled-up apple pie with a crispy tortilla cover … the perfect, cozy, hand-held dessert! 😋

Recipe success tips and suggestions

  1. You can use any size Air FryerBut you have to work in batches, depending on your air roast.
  2. Do not overfill the tortillas or you will not get up and remain closed!
  3. Exchange the filling! The Apple mix in this recipe is like a fast, cook -like apple pie filling (and it’s incredibly tasty!), But you can try other fruit fillings if you want. Try cherry sauce, blueberry filling, peach sauce or what fruits you want. However, I would avoid too aqueous because it flows from the tortillas into their air fryer. Simmer homemade sauces for longer to thicken them.
  4. Do you want to try the oven? I do these apple fleece in the air, which is simply so simple and comfortable. But I am sure that they are also baked in the oven! Follow the instructions below and bake gold and crispy.

Notes

*Granny Smith apples are my favorite in this recipe. They are cute, budget -friendly and keep their shape well. But every apple that you would use with an apple pie works in this recipe (e.g., e.g. Honey crispyPresent Pink ladyor Golden delicious).

** apples -tip: Cut the apples into the quarter to easily remove the core and cut each quarter into sticks and cubes. The Even gives them pieces and reduces waste.

***Sweet finish: While these Apple flautas are delicious for themselves, add a nostalgic churro-like crunch right after the air roast in cinnamon sugar. You are also incredible with a drizzle from our Simple caramel sauce.

How to make Apple Lulla’s step-by-step photos

The ingredients to make air fried apple gaps.

Collect all of your ingredients.

A hand with a vegetable peeler to peel a green apple.

Prepare the apples: Start with peeling and dice 2 Granny Smith apples.

A hand with a knife to dice an apple in small pieces on a woodcut board.

I like cutting my apples into quarters to remove the core. Then I cut the quarters into sticks and throw the apples small.

Cube apple, brown sugar and spices in a pan.

Make the filling: Add the diced apples, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon lemon juice and a pinch of salt in a medium pan over medium heat. Stir occasionally for 5-6 minutes until the apples become soft.

A corn stargail that is poured into a pan with a soft diced apple.

Thicken the filling: Mix 1 teaspoons of corn starch and 2 tablespoons of water together in a small bowl to make a slurry. Pour the corn starch into the apple mix and cook for 1-2 minutes until you are thickened and shiny.

Surcharge: Let your homemade apple flautas cool down for a few minutes so that the filling can easily thicken. You can serve them as it is, but I love rolling them into cinnamon sugar while they are still warm! Enjoy.

Operate suggestions

These simple apple gaps are the perfect dessert, but they are also excellent for a sweet breakfast or snack. I love serving them warm and in cinnamon sugar, with a splash of caramel sauce, a ball of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. You can even cut them into bite-sized pieces and serve them with small dip shells made of caramel, melted chocolate or Greek yogurt to get a funny party treat!

Storage & reheating

As long as you do not make a softer texture, you can store left -wing apple flauta in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can also freeze them after the air roast. Let them cool completely and then freeze in a single layer on a baking sheet before switching to a freezer -proof bag or a container for up to 2 months.

To warm up I like to use the air fryer (350 ° F for 4–5 minutes), but you can also heat it for 10–12 minutes in the oven at 350 ° F or burst into the microwave for 30–45 seconds (although they are not so crispy).
