Aloha and What A July!

Aloha and What A July!

I was most of July. In fact, I think I only spent a week in Penang and the rest was from Penang!

I took part in part Two-week program in Honolulu, Hawaii And that was an amazing experience. This happens when you take a risk.

With some of my international friends from the Asian -Pacific area in the East West Center in Hawaii

I had applied for the program and strangely had the strong feeling that I would get involved. Perhaps it was the universe that caused me to go out there and get out of my comfort zone and explore the world.

Long history, short sense, I was accepted for the program for scholarships And was the only person selected from Malaysia. That made me pretty proud of myself! (For The whole story How this happened, visit my other blog in Mayakirana.)

To get to Hawaii, I had to do a few things – apply for my US visa, get My action plan. Yes, all of us 16 participants from the entire Asian -Pacific area had to present our action plans for what we wanted to do when we completed the program. The action plan could be something with our shops, or we wanted to do something.

There is nothing better than a deadline to move me. And I love working with deadlines on tangible projects.

I wanted to start a podcast for the longest time. I have been an enthusiastic listener of American podcasts since 2010 – the first time that I have my iPod, who has died from me since then. I also got the iPod at Changi Airport and, as excited, remember to finally get my own device to listen to podcasts. I like music, but I liked podcasts more.

The Changs Faces 2019 program prompted me to set this as an action plan. Starting a podcast was my project in 2020 and I knew that I would certainly be held accountable and do this if I would present this plan and announced it.

A friend of mine, Tse-Yi, always knew my podcast dream. Whenever we send an email, she asked how my project let go. How many people I had fears and doubts. I also had no reason to get started. So I hesitated for a long time (like 2 years?).

And now I have no reason to line and too Haw. I officially announced this in the world that I will do that.

My friends In this program, the program supported and can hardly wait for me to get the first episode in the air. Their encouragement was real; Your excitement more.

Even Liz, the program coordinator, told me that I should dream bigger. Originally it was my idea to cover Malaysia, but she asked me to go beyond – why not Asia?

“You will be the first to focus on this area anyway,” she said.

When I started to think about it, I felt confident about the project. My review of the current field showed me that there is a gap – there are very few podcasts of women for women and more of an Asian woman. I would like to share the success stories, challenges and pitfalls of Asian women who start, manage and support companies.

I am looking for the Asian woman who wants to share her story with the world so that she can inspire other Asian women to consider entrepreneurship as a means for an improved life. We keep hearing that economic progress is the way for women.

Getting a job is one thing, but it is difficult to start a company. But it is not impossible and some women have found the keys that unlock the doors of success.

I want these women to share their “keys”, but more than keys, I want them to discuss what a company really takes. The leadership of a company requires a lot of guts and changes and transformations on the part of the entrepreneur must be required. Especially for women, the company means to lead a company, more responsibility for an already huge pile of work and priorities.

I believed that over the years I used the various foundations that finally led me at the time of my life to do this.

I am naturally curious. I like to write and speak. I wrote articles by interviewing people long before I decided to start a podcast at all. I have networks that I can use, either to get interviewed or to get funds. I know enough about tech to find out things and I’m in the web design industry. Creating a website for my podcast is manageable.

I also have business experience, a leadership of one Web design business With NIC in the past 15 years. I also looked after others and I am currently looking after a group of women in the shop as part of our mentoring program for women’s bics.

And I think I bring my unique voice and perspective into podcasting.

I always refer to my purpose for this podcast and my purpose has always been the same – I want to help more women to inspire more women.

My work in the past 20 years has always been feminist and I am not ashamed of it. I often believed that women need even more nudges, nudge and urge to exploit their potential.

If they asked me a year ago how I would do it, I would be at a loss. I have no idea about the technical side of the podcast.

But today I know the answer.

As Liz says, we can find out.

Heck, I can find out. I can learn. In addition, I can accept the help of others (by the way, I am looking for an intern and a podcast editor) and store the parts that I cannot complete or not.

I can also use my invaluable network that is part of the value of a global program such as changing faces. The program connects us all with the in front of us and the rest of the East West Center Alumni (the center celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2020). That is the performance of the network.

(By the way, take a look at the website of the East-West Center. It has many interesting programs for everyone. And Hawaii is always a goal to which you cannot say no. It’s just magic.)

I am currently sponsoring this for the financing before looking for sponsors and donors. My friends from the Changing Faces program said I should have my brand and have full control over this podcast before I look at other sources of financing.

So there. This is my goal 2020!
