Aldi Recalls Popular Frozen Food After It’s Found to Contain Shrimp

You wouldn’t expect to find shellfish hidden in a vegetarian meal, but that’s exactly what you’ll find in a popular frozen spring roll sold at Aldi.

Tai Foong USA, based in Seattle, launched on October 8th announced a recall of its Fusia Asian Inspirations Veggie Spring Rolls after finding out they contain shrimp. The recalled veggie spring rolls were distributed to Aldi branches nationwide.

Tai Foong announced the recall after discovering that its shrimp spring rolls were accidentally packaged in boxes labeled “” Vegetable spring rolls. For plant-based eaters and anyone who doesn’t like shrimp, the mislabeled spring rolls will come as an unpleasant surprise. If someone who is allergic to shellfish If someone unknowingly eats the shrimp spring rolls, it could have fatal consequences.

As of this morning, October 9th, Aldi has removed all affected Fusia spring rolls from its stores, however the prawn spring rolls may still be in your home freezer.

What to do with recalled spring rolls?

If you purchased this product and you or someone in your household has a shellfish allergy, throw away the spring rolls immediately. You can also return it to your Aldi store and receive a full refund. (The same goes for anyone who is vegetarian or doesn’t like shrimp.)
