Appreciating pizza is a full-time job – and I don’t take it lightly. From cafeteria slices to local pizzerias to every frozen or ready-made option in between, I’ve always believed that the perfect pie comes in a wide spectrum – with time and place playing a big role in which pie you reach for.
When I heard about it Katie’s frozen pizzas Since it was a new line inspired by handmade Neapolitan cakes and backed by a $20 million Target deal, I knew I had to try it. But don’t let the $13.49 price tag put you off – every bite is worth it.

A Brief History of Katie’s Pizza
Starting from humble beginnings as a single location in St. Louis, MO, Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria was founded by Katie Lee In 2008, a trip to Italy inspired her to bring handmade Neapolitan-style pizza to her neighborhood.
Katie’s frozen pizzas are handmade, not machine-made, by a dedicated team of chefs. The process begins with 48 hours of natural rising, followed by hand-stretching the dough and wood-firing at 800°F – similar to a traditional pizzeria.
How Katie’s compares to other frozen pizzas
My personal favorite, that one Hot peppers and wildflower honeytastes shockingly like a classic NYC slice – perfectly greasy, drizzled with honey and topped with delicious cup and char pepperoni. The Burrata Margherita And Meatballs Each nail has the perfect second-slice vibe – ideal for pairing with your top pick and slipping you straight into a food coma.
Then there’s this Burrata cheese with black garlica truly transformative experience that combines rich, umami-rich flavors with the perfect texture and crispy crust of a classic thin cake.
Remember: These are not your average frozen pizzas. They are a special kind of experience and combine a delicious dough with thoughtful topping placement. Although each flavor is a thin-crust pie, they bake and rise slightly differently – a testament to their unique, handcrafted process.
The result is not just a delicious pizza –It competes with any other frozen pizza on the market because it relies on fresh ingredients and respects craftsmanship. For this reason alone the price of $13 Worth it – perfect for special occasions, family dinners or any evening when an upscale pizza experience is in order.

Here’s how to perfect Katie’s pizza at home
- For the perfect crust: For a crispier crust, bake directly on the oven rack; For a softer, chewier crust, use a baking sheet or pizza stone. Check the pizza halfway through cooking and rotate as needed to ensure even cooking.
- Keep them frozen: Due to the thin crust and small size, Katie’s pizzas only require 12 to 14 minutes to bake at 425°F. Make sure the cakes stay frozen until you are ready to bake. If you leave them to thaw, they may cook unevenly or burn quickly.
- Always stock up: If budget allows, grab at least two pizzas. Trust me when I say: One won’t be enough to satisfy the craving, and you’ll wonder why you didn’t take all four.
I’ve tried more frozen pizzas than I can count, but Katie’s Pizza feels different – like a love letter to authentic pizzerias captured in a box. It’s the kind of pizza that reminds me why I fell in love with the slice in the first place: simple ingredients, incredible texture, and a story worth celebrating.
