Witches Brew (Halloween Punch)

YES! I am one of those people who loves Halloween. I grew up watching scary movies and experiencing the scariest house in the area when trick-or-treating. However, I can promise you that this witch’s brew is a treat, no tricks! With just 5 ingredients, this fizzy Halloween punch comes together in minutes and is guaranteed to be the talk of the party. Grab your favorite punch (or cauldron!) and whip up this incredibly fun, family-friendly, and flavorful witch’s brew for your next spooky party!

Spooky Lime Sorbet Punch Recipe

This non-alcoholic witch’s brew is tangy with ginger ale, sweet with pineapple juice, brightened with a squeeze of lime, and made deliciously green and frothy thanks to lime sorbet. I love how the sorbet slowly melts into the punch, creating a creamy, foamy layer that looks a little scary but tastes like a tropical float! This sorbet punch recipe only has a few ingredients. Even if you don’t want to spend a lot this Halloween, you’ll still have something festive and fun to share!

Tips and suggestions for recipe success

  1. Don’t let these witches brew too far in advance. It’s best to add the sorbet at the last moment so that the punch keeps the foam on top when served. It only takes a few minutes to mix everything together in one bowl, so there’s really no stress. Simply pour, ladle and serve while the foam is fresh and bubbly!
  2. I recommend removing the lime sorbet from the freezer 5 minutes before using to make scooping easier.
  3. The green color of this witch’s brew recipe comes from the lime sorbet. You can try different flavors like orange, raspberry, or rainbow, but note that this will change the color of your finished drink!
  4. Depending on your preference, you can use regular ginger ale or a version with less sugar. Don’t you love ginger ale? Try a lemon-lime or orange soda instead.
  5. Have fun garnishing! You can use lime slices or other candy, or if you don’t like gummy worms, leave them out.
  6. Want to create an adult version? If you already have some rum or vodka on hand (and you’re only making this punch for adults!), feel free to add some to your punch for an alcoholic sorbet punch.

Notes

*I think the addition of fresh lime juice adds a nice citrus flavor to balance the sweetness, but you can leave it out or use other citrus fruits lemon, orangeor grapefruit.

**sherbet is a sweet, frozen dessert that resembles a kind of cross between sorbet and ice cream. It is made from fruit juice or fruit puree, but unlike sorbet, it also contains some milk or cream. If you can’t find sorbet where you live, you can try it Ice creamor Sorbet (although the sorbet may not foam as much due to the lack of dairy).

***Add the sorbet at the last minute before serving so that the foam doesn’t get lost on top.

Lime sorbet is spooned into a bowl of Halloween punch.

Add the sorbet: Add 1 liter of lime sorbet to the punch and stir in slowly until it begins to foam. I would wait to add the sorbet until you are ready to serve your Halloween punch to ensure the bubbly foam is on top.

Pour the finished witch's brew into a bowl.

Surcharge: Ladle your homemade witch’s brew into jars and add a few gummy worms for decoration! Serve immediately and enjoy.

Storage instructions

This witch’s brew recipe is one I wouldn’t recommend making in advance. The magic happens when the cold sorbet reacts with the carbonated ginger ale to form a bubbly “witch layer” that disappears if it sits for too long. However, if you Do If you have leftovers, don’t waste them! Store them in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. It becomes flat and the foamy surface sinks into the punch, but it still tastes good! Stir briefly before serving again.
