- Aldi is recalling Ambiano pressure cookers sold nationwide due to the risk of burns due to faulty lids.
- Eleven incidents were reported, including eight serious burn injuries.
- Return recalled pressure cookers to Aldi or contact the company for a refund.
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there is an active recall for approximately 46,660 pressure cookers sold at Aldi locations nationwide. This is due to a serious burn hazard after multiple injuries were reported.
The affected pressure cookers are Ambiano 6-quart and 8-quart electric pressure cookers with model number KY-318B/93550, KY-318A/96775, or 6L-PC/98527 on the nameplate. They were sold exclusively at Aldi stores in the US from January 2016 to December 2019 for around $40
The recalled pressure cooker lids can be opened before steam pressure is released, which can cause hot contents to spill out and pose a risk of burns. As a result, the company has received 11 reports of this malfunction, including eight reports related to serious burn injuries.
Check your pressure cooker. If you have the recalled product on hand, stop using the device immediately and return it to your local Aldi for a full refund. If you are not near an Aldi to return the product, you can also send a photo of the recalled pressure cooker with the “power cord cut and a photo showing the model number and date code” to the Tempo company at serviceusa@tempo.org to receive a refund.
If you have any questions about this recall, contact Aldi toll-free at 800-325-7894, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
