Tofu, made from soybeans, is a healthy protein source that vegetarians loved in main dishes such as fall roasts, curry and simple starters. If it is used in a icing, it not only comes in the place of butter, but also gives the cake a beautiful, smooth texture and about 35 grams of protein. (And since Andrews suggests that her cake are around eight to 10 people, that’s almost 4 grams of protein per disc.)
The same amount of butter (by weight) in this recipe would only offer about 4 grams of protein – plus, it mainly consists of saturated fat. Tofu contains a fraction of the fat content of butter and mainly has unsaturated fat. Carrot cake sugar effusion is also often a fresh cheese base, which in turn has less protein and more fat than tofu.
