In the R/Oldrecipes SubredditA user uploaded letters who received in 1982 from the then president of the friends of Hurst Public Library in Hurst, Texas. Liberace’s go-to-two attempt? Schinken and melon with a dash of ground pepper – a light and refreshing combination that is perfect for snacking on hot summer days.

“Cut off the melon in half, cut off the shell and cut the melon into crescent strips,” wrote Liberace in his letter with the recipe. “Alternative melon and ham slices on chilled plates. Sprinkle with a little pepper.”

Sounds just enough, but Liberace goes so far to add a few more suggestions so that the court feels more chic. “If you prefer it, cut each melon into six pieces,” he wrote. “Get the skin in and make diagonal slots in the meat. Put small rollups out of ham in the slots and sprinkle it with the pepper.”

The hardest part in the production of liberace starters may be in choosing the best Kantaloupe.
