Easy Grilled Broccolini With Charred Lemon Recipe (30 Minutes)

I have lost the count of how often I stood in the product section of my local grocery and found out which vegetables I should grill and serve for dinner. I definitely have grilled vegetable go-to’s, but my desire for variety recently led me to something new-a green vegetable with a slim stem with a small bloom: broccolini.

Broccolini is not a baby broccoli, as the name suggests. According to Nik SharmaAuthor of VEG tableBroccolini is a hand -fed cross between broccoli and Gai Lan (Chinese broccoli), and the name Broccolini is actually a trademark. Do you know what else it is? Fantastic on the grill.

Why broccolini is great on the grill

Broccolini has recently become my most grilled vegetables, which is high in my house. I particularly love it because it is prepared. On the whole, most vegetables need culinary interventions before grilling. Zucchini must be cut into slices. Asparagus must be peeled. The list continues. Broccolini is like me on a Saturday morning like me.

Some vegetables are also a challenge to move on the grill grille. Asparagus spear? I look at you. If you have ever grilled asparagus, you know the sad process, the lost, burned spear that have settled on the bottom of your grill. They never made it for dinner because they slipped through a rust.

Broccolini is ready for such challenges because its flowers act as a grill life preserver. His stem could slip, but the flowers keep it afloat until they can grab it and put it on the rust again. I haven’t lost any yet.

Finally grills broccolini fastTake almost 6 minutes to cook and only have to be turned over once. During this time it develops a beautiful char that helps to produce its natural sweetness. With the grill, the stems are a slight resistance, while the flowers are more delicate. A lemon grilled side by side adds exactly the right amount of spicy balance to round off the dish.

Substitution of normal broccoli

If you can’t find a broccolini, you can use good old broccoli in its place. It will need a little more preparation to reduce the flowers and you need a perforated grill pan to make grilling easier, but the results will be quite similar.
