I never had cottage cheese until a week ago. I completely missed the Cottage cheese trend of last summer! Strange, I know – especially from someone whose job is going to try all kinds of food.
Recently Kristen Bell shared a photo in her Instagram story of “The KB:” of a bowl with a good cultural hut cheese with cherry tomatoes, spicy salt and a splash of olive oil.
The simplicity of this snack immediately connected me, so I went to the grocery store.

What I thought about Kristen Bells Snack
First I had to find out if I liked cottage cheese at all. If I didn’t do it, this whole surgery would take a standstill. I took up a good culture that Kristen uses and the brand Cottage cheese brand that our experts recommend.
As it turns out, I Love Cottage cheese! I made an audible “Mmm!” When my eyebrows were delightingly shot while I ate my first spoon.
I was confused about whether cottage cheese is a sweet or hearty ingredient and after trying it, I think it is not. It is a very neutral taste, an empty canvas for everything you do.
When I found that I was Team Cottage Cheese, I was ready to test the KB. I bought more cottage cheese and some cherry tomatoes. (Kristen used Jennifer Fisher Würzig’s saltBut I was too impatient to order it. I did a fraudster that I will share below.)
I was pretty sure that this would be a slam dark – and I was 100% correct.
The KB is one of these recipes in which the whole is larger than the sum of its parts: it is perfectly salty, somewhat sweet (thanks to cherry tomatoes) and oh so creamy. While I would still like to try it with the actual Jennifer Fisher -spicy salt, my DIY salt more than the trick.
While the Instagram story is long gone, the “recipe” could not be easier: cottage cheese, fresh cherry tomatoes, a splash olive oil and a splash with spicy salt.

Modoring Jennifer Fisher Würzig’s salt
To make this fraudster, I mixed 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, 1 teaspoon of dried parsley, 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt and 1/4 teaspoon of every onion powder, onion granules and black pepper. I also used a pinch of cayenne for additional warmth.
I used a mortar and a pestle to destroy the parsley and red pepper flakes a little. If you don’t have any, rub the parsley a little between the thumb and pointer finger and skip the red pepper flakes in favor of a second pinch.
You can’t really be wrong, so don’t rethink it. The result is always a satisfactory snack that is rich in protein. I am officially a fan of the KB as I myself KB!
