The perfect hot chocolate for a party.
Hot, bad, creamy and preferably with vacation pieces in the background (or maybe best wiped by the slow cooker with a straw), this decadent crockpot chocolate is my cozy drink of choice this winter!
The recipe is simple as possible and the slow cooker makes it ideal if you entertain because the guests can help themselves. No bartender! (Christmas punch and rum punch also minimize your work as a host.)
This crockpot hot chocolate also tastes good splendid. It’s something of it Best hot chocolate I’ve ever doneRun it up there with my French, hot chocolate. And since it is made without condensed milk and heavy cream, it is creamy without being over your head that you can only manage a tiny cup. Fill up these cups, my friend!
Key ingredients
You can find the full list of ingredients in the recipe card below, but here are some notes that you should consider.
- Chocolate. Do not use chocolate chips! Just like with cheese bought in the shop, chocolate chips are formulated, not melting and in the bag to clump-like what that does not melt so smoothly for recipes. Buy a bar chocolate and chop it.
- Cocoa powder. The other half of our chocolate taste duo. If you make this crockpot hot chocolate with cocoa powder, is intensity.
- Full milk + half a and a half. In order to achieve the smoothest and creamiest texture, it is important to prepare crockpot hot chocolate with milk and not water. I used whole milk. I also used half a and a half to keep things a little easier than heavy cream and at the same time taste forgiving. (For additional decadence, you can exchange the half and a half and half for heavy whipped cream.)
- Vanilla. Non-abuse that gives this drink an additional layer of cosiness.
- Immediate espresso powder. It optionally helps, but helps to further intensify the chocolate taste (it doesn’t make the hot chocolate taste like coffee).
5 -star evaluation

Opportunities to taste crockpot hot chocolate
Regardless of whether it is my healthy, hot chocolate, a simple hot chocolate or this crockpot version, here are some of my favorite methods to give hot chocolate a small thrust:
- alcohol. Crockpot Hot chocolate with alcohol would make a delicious drink for adults! I would recommend Baileys Irish Cream, Pfepfermint Schnapps, Kahlua or Frangelico Haselnut Likör. Yum!
- Coffee. Mix hot chocolate and coffee together to create a drink called Café Mokka. Add a recording of espresso or a pouring of heavily brewed coffee in your cup and then indicate as much hot chocolate as you want. We have every Christmas morning and it is divine.
- Nutella. For an extraordinary and delicious hot chocolate to stir in a light and delicious, hot chocolate to stir a spoonful of Nutella.
Crockpot hot chocolate -topping
Add your mug with one of these hot chocolate -topping:
- Marshmallows. Regardless of whether you prefer mini-marshmallows, regular marshmallows or marshmallows in jumbogrenses, you can’t go wrong with this classic and popular topping.
- Whipped cream. For a decadent enjoyment, your hot chocolate with a dash of whipped cream.
- Chocolate chips. A handful of milk chocolate chips, half -sweet chocolate pieces or dark chocolate pieces take up the chocolate factor.
- Caramel sauce. A drizzle caramel sauce would be delicious!
- Shooted peppermint. For a minty and festive turn, sprinkle some shredded peppermint candies or candy sticks over it.
- Cinnamon. End your hot chocolate spool with a pinch of cinnamon. You can also place cinnamon sticks into the pot, while the hot chocolate boxes insert them with a cozy taste.
This creamy crockpot hot chocolate is easy to prepare and tastes absolutely decadent. The slow cooker is perfect for serving a lot!

Prevent your screen from becoming dark
- 3 Cup Full milk Must be entirely for the best texture!
- 1 cup half and a half Or heavy cream if you want to make it outrageously decadent
- 6 Ounce Dark or bitter sweet chocolate* roughly chopped (between 62%and 70%; the darker, the more intense the chocolate taste is used; I used 66%)
- 3 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder or Dutch process cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon Immediate espresso powder or coffee powder Optional for a more intense taste
- prize Kosher salt
- Toppings of choice: Marshmallows Whipped cream, a pine caramel, a handful of additional chocolate chips
-
Place all the ingredients with the exception of the pads in a 3-liter Slow cooker (or a 5-liter or larger if you double the recipe).
-
Whisk quickly to dissolve the cocoa powder as far as possible. Wipe on until none of them hovers up; This can take 1 to 2 minutes.
-
Cooking 45 minutes to 1 hour for 2 to 3 hours or up (depending on the slow cooker; it can be finished earlier. As soon as it is hot and the chocolate has melted smoothly, you can get it as quickly as you want. Every 45 minutes or so to ensure that the chocolate does not burn on the floor of the pot. At this point you can keep it on “low” or “keep it warm” if you have it. Don’t keep it up as if the chocolate gets too hot, it can burn or separate.
-
Screw in serving cups and add your toppings of choice.
- *I don’t recommend chocolate chips because they don’t melt so smoothly. Since chocolate is the main component, you should definitely use good quality. Lindt and Ghirardelli are both excellent. I was also very lucky with the bittersweet chocolate bar of the bakers.
- Save: Fridge residues for up to 4 days.
- Recall: In a saucepan on the stove over medium heat, gently upset the stove and combine.
