Mezcal Shandy Cocktail Recipe (2 Ingredients)

When I think of summer cocktails, I think fruity, refreshing and refreshing. I think so too Ease. I don’t want to spend my warm weather with countless limes, confusion and simmering simple syrups. I just want to drink something and I want it now.

After a recent dinner with friends, we all went to a reserved bar to find a night bag. It was not the place for chic cocktails and I wasn’t crazy about their selection of beer, but they had an offer that was hidden in the menu that attracted me my attention: a can of Stiegl -Radler and a dash of mezcal.

Now my shot-and-a-beer days have long passed, but this combination sounded good for me. After receiving my order, I drank part of the cyclist and added the shot directly to the can. My friends followed the example and we all looked at ourselves with surprised faces. It was delicious! Since then we have declared it a drink of the summer.

Why this combination works

Stiegl is an Austrian brewery that makes a powerful fine cyclist. A cyclist is a combination of light, refreshing beer with fruit cushion, usually made of real fruit juice. It is also called Shandy (or Panaché in France). Citrus fruits – such as orange, lemon or grapefruit – are the most common cycling taste. Stiegl’s cyclist is the grapefruit variety and juicy, slightly sour and super refreshing. It is very fertile and not bitter at all, so it tends to please non-beer drinkers.

This fruity, bubbling drink is the ideal mixer for smoky, naturally fruity mezcal. I don’t know why I didn’t show this combination earlier. Maybe because you are an Austrian and a Mexican? No matter where they are from, they are a match in heaven.

A note to ingredients

I can usually find Stiegl cyclists in its brand -shaped white and ruby -colored packaging in my local spirits business and in some grocery stores. The brand also makes a cyclist with a lemon taste, which would certainly be good here. I find it most frequently in the 16 -unzen-high doses, but it is also sold in smaller glass bottles as six-packs.

If you cannot find Stiegl Radler, Paulaner Grapefruit cyclists or Schofferhofer yeast wheat grapefruit, you are great alternatives.

I like to use a mild, of course citric mezcal for this cocktail. Del Maguey Vida, especially the Puebla variety, is a good choice. If you are not interested in the smoke of Mezcal, a Blanco or Reposado Tequila also works very well.

How I can make my 2-intented mezcal (or tequila) Shandy

For two drinks you need:

  • 2 ounces (1/4 cup) mezcal or tequila
  • 1 (16.9 ounces) can rip off cyclists
  • 2 limestone wedges, optional

Give 1 ounce tequila for each of two high glasses. Top with ice cream. Share the cyclist evenly between the glasses and serve them with lime chips.
