Best muesli

If you are something like me, you have spent hours in the muesli gang in the grocery store and tried to find exactly the right way. You know the one-es has many fun mixes such as nuts and dried fruits; It’s cute, but not too sweet; It is seasoned with cinnamon; And it’s full of oats and nuts. … and if you are something like me, you will see that it is almost impossible to find the perfect muesli in the shop.

Enter: my homemade cereal recipe! Instead of using white or brown sugar, of course I sweeten it with maple syrup (honey also works). I spoil it generously with cinnamon and add a ball of almond butter to form a lot of nutty clusters. It is also adaptable to a delicious template for all dried fruits and nuts that I (or you) could ask.

But the best of everything, it’s easy to make! Simply stir the dry ingredients together, drizzle the moist ingredients and mix everything together. Bake for 30 minutes and it is ready to go. Healthy, simple and completely delicious recipe is guaranteed to make you a homemade muesli converts!

Oats, nuts, coconut and cinnamon in a bowl

Muesli recipe -ingredients (+variations!)

My healthy muesli recipe begins with four basic ingredients: Whole rolled oats, maple syrup, cinnamon and coconut oil. Then I add these mix-ins for additional taste and texture:

  • Almond butter – The most important ingredient for delicious nutty clusters! It also grabs this muesli recipe with protein. Peanut butter would also be great here.
  • Chopped walnuts – Add crunch, protein and healthy fats! Walnuts are my point of contact, but I often exchange them for another nut or another seed or use a mixture. Hacks or splinter almonds, pecans, pistachios, cashew nuts and sunflower seeds are some of my favorites. Pepitas (green pumpkin seeds) are also very nice.
  • Unsweetened coconut flakes – I love your toasty, her butter -like taste and its crispy texture in this recipe. If you are not a coconut person, you can leave them free.
  • Dried cranberries – For a pop full of sweet and tasty tough texture! Goji berries, raisins, chopped dried apricots, dried cherries and blueberries are also delicious options. And if you prefer your muesli without dried fruits, go on and skip them!

How to make muesli

Homemade cereal tips

  • More nutty cluster = better muesli. Large oats and nuts are undoubtedly the best part of muesli. To encourage these lumps to form, press the oat mix for the first 15 minutes of baking into a 1-inch dicker oval. Then take the pan out of the oven and use a fork to carefully break the oval apart. Bake for 15 minutes and you will have many delicious clusters!
  • Let it cool before you dive. Your homemade muesli will continue to be crispy when it cools down. It is tempting to eat it as soon as it comes from the oven, but if you let it rest for 15 minutes on the sheet metal pan, it is particularly crispy and roasted – it is great to wait!
  • Add the dried fruits at the end. You don’t want to run the risk of burning your dried fruits in the oven, so stir them into the muesli after cooling down. In this way, the fruits will be soft and tough and not crispy. (PS It doesn’t hurt to add a handful of chocolate chips to the cooled muesli!)

Homemade muesli recipe

Keep your muesli up to a week in an airtight container at room temperature. Enjoy it yourself as a snack, add it to a yogurt parfait or eat it like muesli with a dash of milk! I love muesli with my homemade oat milk.
