This week we have an imported product that missed an important inspection after it has been brought to the USA and a product contaminated with listeria. Surprisingly, both objects are frozen food: frozen pepperoni pizza and frozen vegetables.
If you are not sure how to identify a called back object, read our food recall guide.

Public Health Alert for dealers Joe’s Frozen Pizza issued
On August 29, the USDA’s Food Safety Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) released a public health alarm for the unknown Pepperoni pizza from Trader Joe. The frozen pizza was imported from Italy, and although it met us the customs and border protection requirements, the FSIS never had the opportunity to reproduce it. Usually the FSIS carries out a quality and security test for imported articles, but the pizza from Trader Joe skipped this step.
The frozen pizza was sold at Trader Joe’s locations in California. Although it is no longer available for purchase, it can still be at freezing customers.
Here you can find out whether you bought one of the affected pizzas:
- Product: Dealer Joe’s Unhorf Pepperoni Pizza
- MfG Lot: 16.06.25 and 21.06.25
- Best by date: 16.08.26 and 21.08.26
- Italy Erstallen number: It is 1558 l UE (looking for this in the Italian inspection mark on the front of the package.)
If you recently bought Trader Joes Pepperoni Pizza and still have a box at home, check the packaging. The FSIS calls you throwing away the product or returning to Trader Joe’s. If you have any questions about this alarm for public health, contact Trader Joe’s customer relationships at number 626-599-3817.
